Data collection, processing, storage and erasure

The online survey is conducted by means of the external online portal “TIVIAN”. UZH has obliged "TIVIAN" to ensure compliance with data protection regulations through legal, technical and organizational measures. The data are only transmitted in the online portal using SSL encryption. The time of access and the IP address are stored each time the portal is accessed. A system backup is generated on a daily basis to protect personal data against any accidental destruction or loss.

The survey and analysis of the data is carried out by employees of the Evaluation Office. Access to the data is restricted to the employees of the Evaluation Office, who are subject to a confidentiality obligation.

The questions about the group memberships are mandatory. For all other questions, it is possible not to give an answer.

The data will be stored on servers of TIVIAN until March 2024, after which they will be completely and irrevocably deleted.

Data evaluation

The data collected is evaluated only for the above-noted purposes. The directly identifiable personal data (e.g., IP address) will be deleted following conclusion of the survey phase and prior to data evaluation.

Questions that are answered by fewer than 5 persons are not evaluated separately.

In the results report, some variables are compared according to group memberships.

The answers to the open questions are listed in the original wording in the results report. Please therefore structure your answers in such a manner that identification of persons is not possible. Any statements through which identification could be possible are anonymized or deleted to the maximum possible extent. However, the content of your statement might potentially allow a conclusion to be drawn with respect to your person.

How will the reports be made public?

The Evaluation Office forwards the results report to the management and staff of the unit under evaluation, to the external experts and to the University' s management bodies (Executive Board of the University, Board of the University).

What rights do you have?

Participants may withdraw their consent to processing in full or in part for the future at any time by written notice to the Evaluation Office of the University of Zurich and may request that all data collected to that date be erased, provided that any erasure of the data collected does not make realization of the purpose of the survey impossible or seriously jeopardize it. In addition, participants may be provided with information about the data stored with respect to them on request. Any relevant written requests are to be directed to: Evaluation Office of the University of Zurich, Mühlegasse 21, 8001 Zurich martin.soland@evaluation.uzh.ch).
