Elias Steiner studied economics and ethnology at the University of Lucerne and completed his doctorate in development economics. His dissertation covers a wide range of topics such as corruption, the informal sector, poverty reduction, statistical capacity or voluntary sustainability standards. During his studies he worked at Comundo–a non-profit organization in development cooperation–in the staff unit for processes, projects and programs. In Senegal, he was entrusted with the development of an agricultural project for S.O.S. Environnement. Since December 2020, he has been working as a project manager at the UZH Evaluation Office.
