International university rankings strongly influence public opinion both globally and locally. The University of Zurich consistently scores very high in overall university rankings as well as in university rankings by subject (usually in the top 100).

Rankings employ a variety of methods, focal points and criteria to rate universities worldwide. This produces differing ranking results, which must be critically examined when judging the quality and performance of a university.

The Evaluation Office supplies data to ranking publishers, critiques the ranking results for internal and external interested parties and provides background information on the rankings.
